Can anyone tell me what years these two helmets were worn for West Rome?

I also need to know what year the East Rome helmet was worn. If you can help, you can reply back here or email me. (preferably).

Hi,

I was thinking the helmet with the diamond was pretty close to the last one worn before the merger. I got an email from a fellow today telling me this same helmet had a green mask instead of a white one. I'll display the helmet he gave me the info on. I'll also add the date to the East Rome helmet. Thanks for letting me know!

I found a color picture of the WR helmet in their 1988 annual. It was like the middle picture above. It had the the diamond logo with WR in it, but it also had a double green stripe on top, and a green facemask.

A WR helmet from 1964: solid white helmet, double green stripe, and the players jersey number on the side in green.

Valley Point: white helmet, double green stripe and white facefask.

1966 Main: solid green with gold number on the side, white stripe on top and white facemask.

1962 East Rome: solid Columbia blue; the facemask and stripe on top was either white or gold; not sure.

The info above is correct, as best I could tell, since I was looking at poor quality pictures.

Hi,

Thanks for your help. I'll get that stripe added to the WR helmet. I'll get these other images created and posted ASAP. I was just thinking this morning that I would like to get the teams from my area as soon as I could. I've got North Whitfield and West Side, but I need Eastbrook and Valley Point. Now that you've given the info to do Valley Point, that's 3 down and one to go!

Since I have the latest East Rome helmet already posted, I'll just leave it be. Here in the very near future, my site is going to get a complete facelift at which time I will be including the various helmets worn throughout the years for all teams, past and present. My site host (webmaster of Linolcncountyreddevils.com) is going to be doing all the work, I'll just be riding piggyback so to speak. ( I have to give credit where credit is due)! Thanks again.

I'm 99% sure it was 1970.

To answer the original post above..

The Chief was worn from 73-78..then when Hodges became coach, he changed it to the diamond WR..prior to 73..the silver helmet had an Arrowhead on its side with CHIEFS wriiten inside..the arrowhd pointed front..

East Rome's helmet was dark Columbia blue, wide yellow stripe and a smaller white stripe on top, with a white circle, inside was an old english E.. later, not sure of yr (guessing 79-80-ish), went to the ER when they changed their uni's to a lighter blue and yellow pants...they used to look cool in dark columbia blue from head to toe..

I believe Hodges added the diamond 'T' to Thomasville's helmet when he came to town in 1984.

The diamond design came from the diamond F from Furman U...

Were you around when T Welch came to coach?..Played ball w/him at WRome..
