Hey DFendley,
When did Jesup officially become Wayne County?
I've been told a couple of different stories.

Becky Taylors basketball site has a section called dates and it said 1967. All of Jesups region championships and state championships are under Wayne Co.

It looks like the school used Wayne County for a number of years before consolidating. Odum and Screven both consolidated in 1967, but a good many references to the school in Jesup in previous years call it Wayne County.

Has it always been Yellow Jackets? Jesup and Wayne County?
To be consistent, what we should do is call everything Wayne County (just as we call everything Thomas County Central, including Central High of Thomasville). That's because Jesup was renamed Wayne County in 1959 (or thereabouts), and while there was a consolidation in 1967, it didn't change the name of the school -- It stayed Wayne County Yellow Jackets.
Does that sound right?

Screven fielded teams from at least 1926-28, but just about everybody tried to in the 1920s. Out of nine games that I know of, they beat Broxton and no one else.
I've never seen Jesup/Wayne County listed as anything but Yellow Jackets.
