Aries Merritt, Wheeler High School, won the men's 110 hurdles GOLD.
I remember him well at Wheeler. I lived a mile from the school. He won state titles, and I think Wheeler won the state title, but the best known track & field athlete on that team was a guy named Witherspoon who held the national high school record in the 400 meters.
